How long is too long to be on Zoom? Is “Zoom fatigue” real? What does 24 hours of Zoom do to someone or to a community? Can a community exist within a virtual space? Who will show up? Can I even stay awake for 24 hours? What’s going to happen?

Guidelines:

-you may join and leave as you please. there is no time limit or waiting room.
-join the space! you are encouraged to engage. please turn on your sound and video. I’ll be recording for archival.

FAQ

Q: When is this happening?
A: The zoom call will begin at 8pm EST on Saturday, December 5 and go until we reach zoom’s 24 hour limit at 8pm EST on Sunday, December 6.

Q: You’re crazy for doing this.
A: That’s not a question but thank you for pointing it out. I’m really interested in exploring community and virtual space. What is performance and what is reality? Can a virtual space replace physical space?

Q: Can you use the bathroom?
A: All meals will be cooked/eaten on camera and I will not leave otherwise. I will, however, leave for bathroom breaks as needed.
This performance is not about watching me poop in a can.
